My Dad loved this box of memories. There was a ton of candy and included lots of things he hadn’t seen since he was a kid.

5 Stars What do I get for this person?
This is the best gift for that person who really doesn’t need anything, but that you

still want to get something that they will remember. I have used this three times

and each time it was the hit of the party, not only with the person receiving it,

but eveyone else at the party. It is great that you can customize it to several

different decades.

2 Stars I usually don’t do this… but BUYER BEWARE
Hometown Favorites is NOT a favorite of mine, and I will never buy from them again. This product is not worth $29.95 plus $21.10 shipping & handling. There were 7 candies missing with only 1 substitution. The company, Hometown Favorites, reserved the right to substitute, but they didn’t deliver. It arrives in a no frills box with no filler of any kind inside to make it presentable. My event is in a few days, so I will re-package it myself. Twenty one dollars and ten cents to ship this ?? Are you kidding ? I’m really getting sick of these companies quoting a low price for the item, then gouging you on shipping. Fifty bucks for a bunch of candy bars ? Evidently there are people out there willing to pay it…not me…buyer beware.

4 Stars Pricey but worth it
I got the 70’s box for may dad, who was born in the 60’s but grew up in the 70’s. I wasn’t there when he got the box, but he called me right after. He was shocked that I even found something like this and was really happy with it. After later talking to my mom, she said he wouldn’t stop talking about it and almost every piece was a trip down memory lane for him. She also mentioned that a lot of the items included in the box were very hard to find now a days, such as the candy cigarettes. But there were a few items you still see on shelves. I asked if any was stale, after reading the reviews on here…but they both said everything they ate was all in good, fresh condition. This is obviously only really good for a one time gift. The shipping price did bump this up to over $40 and almost made me not get it, but at the end of the day it was worth it.

It’s a pretty cool idea and a fun gift, but the cost is too high and the shipping charges are through the stratosphere!

3 Stars No Reggie Bar??!!
Great idea, but why not pay homage to the most iconic candy of the decade? The chocolate, the caramel, the peanuts, the packaging, the salty goodness! The world has yet to see another candy to carry the name of a sports figure. Bring back the Reggie Bar and it’ll sell like hotcakes.

5 Stars A lot of candy
Sent this to my brother who is serving in Afganistan. His initial response was,”dude it’s a lot of candy”. He also said it was a great assortment of candy from when we were kids. I didn’t get to see the item myself so I hope that helps.

5 Stars Nostalgic snacks bring back memories!
All of the candies from the seventies were great!I just wish there were more of them! From sodas to licorice,suckers and bubblegum…..I purchased for a Father’s Day gift and since I had 6 Dads to buy for, it just so happened that I was able to order for different years. I ordered from the 40’s 50’s 60′70’80’s…..it was pretty awesome for all the Dad’s to start reminiscing about the good ‘ol times, what they were doing or what they were reminded of.

My whole family said it was a very thoughtful gift…….I’m always looking for unique gifts. I was very happy with my purchase. Amazon made it easy to order.-Chakakan

Maybe nice for nostalgia, but is it worth the price of getting majorly ripped off? Its $30 plus a whopping $22 shipping… huge ripoff. I wouldnt recommend people pay for this unless you enjoy throwing your money away.

3 Stars HORRIBLY disappointed!
I recieved this for Christmas last year, and was extremely grateful. However, this box did not contain about HALF of the candy that was listed, (yes, I double checked!) especially the stuff I really wanted, like the stamps and blocks and mamba.

3 Stars Fun Product but total cost (with cheapest shipping) exceeded $51.00!
The 60’s decade box was well received and everyone enjoyed a trip down memory lane although a good portion of the products were unfamiliar not only to those raised in the 60’s, but those older and younger. Many were wondering if they were east coast products. The price of the product for what was received was quite excessive, and the cost of the cheapest shipping was astronomical (almost as much as the product). The box is cute, but some of the individual candy packages arrived opened with contents spilled and broken because it wasn’t packaged for shipping. Luckily I opened the box before presenting it as everything was piled together into a big heap. I was quite surprised that there wasn’t any box filler (stryofoam peanuts, bubble wrap or shredded colored paper) or that the items weren’t arranged for giving. I added my own shredded colored paper and arranged the items, but really felt for the price that it should have been professionally presented.

Although a neat idea, I will not purchase any more of these decade boxes from this company for the reasons stated above. I recently saw a similar item by another company that had just as many candies and was priced less than $15.

I thought this was a great idea, but after recieving it, with freight it came to 51.00

5 Stars wow! retro candy
i grew up in the sixties, and me and candy had a love affair for at least twenty years. i loved all of that “retro candy” and i tried just about every chocolate and candy bar on the market, including the “zero” and the “seven up.” as time went on alot of that candy disappeared, though it was subtle. it wasn’t until one day when i saw an old fashion type candy store that the memories started flooding back. those little “dots” on paper, if i wasn’t careful i would be eating bits of paper. but i didn’t care. i just liked that candy. it was wonderful. i am definitley looking forward to buying myself one of these “retro candy gifts.”

For my step-fathers birthday we got him this candy basket and a nice shirt. Forget the shirt. He loved the basket! My mom said he talked about it almost everyday for a month. A gift that makes someone that happy is easily 5 stars.

Cute idea,but box arrived creased, and some of the candy stale. Did not live up to it’s promise for the price. This was a birthday gift for my husband.

4 Stars My mother really loved this purchase
My mother was so excited about this present. She loved the selection that was in the box. It took her for a trip down memory lane…exactly what I was hoping for. She had just been talking about some of these candies to me that she used to get as a kid. So it was great timing when I found it. My only complaint would be that the box was a bit smushed and had a little tear in the side. Could have been from the shipping as well but it bothered me gifting it with a rip in it. Other than that it was a perfect experience.

5 Stars Gift…
Bought it to be part of a large gift basket I am making for Christmas so I don’t know how it tastes and what the contents of the box look like but the box is cute and everyone else who has seen it has already called dibs on it if the recipient doesn’t want to keep it. The box alone would go for what I paid for the set at somewhere like Pier 1. Also; the recipient has a young daughter, knowing how my niece reacted when we brewed our Primula flowering teas I imagine (even if it doesn’t taste that good) both mother and daughter will be delighted.

3 Stars Pretty and functional, but small
I was excited to receive this, and it is very pretty, but very tiny. It stated how many ounces it was, I guess I just didn’t put that into relative terms. It makes about one cup of tea, and the first one is a pretty strong one. Because it is so concentrated, it’s hard to see the little bloom once the tea steeps.

For a pretty decoration, it’s nice. If you have one cup of tea a day, it’s nice. I, personally, am going to purchase a bigger one.

5 Stars Impressive, even to a 74 year old Asian American father.
I got this for my dad, who is 74 years old as an anniversary present. When I told him I got him “blooming tea” on the phone, he didn’t sound too thrilled and said something along the lines of, “maybe I’ll give it away.” Of course I didn’t take offense because let’s face it, that’s how old Asian people are.

Anyway, I guess he opened it up, and it changed his tune right away. Not sure what he was more pleased with: the cool bamboo box that he stores his little trinkets in now, or the fact that he’d never seen blooming flower tea before. Regardless, he was a happy camper, and I got a good price from Amazon and Amazon Prime.

The tea has good flavor and does make three cups each. I enjoyed watching the flower”bloom”. This would be a great gift for a tea drinker.

3 Stars Fascinating & fun to brew….blase to drink
Although fascinating and fun to brew – watching the flower develop, the tea itself is very bland. People at work were fascinated by the flowered pot on my desk, curiously asking questions. However the fascination ended for me once the steaming cup met my lips and the tea itself passed over my taste buds. To be fair, perhaps I am not discerning enough or just not attuned to the nuance and subtlety of white tea, but I found the taste to be washed out & weak – even on the first pot. I suppose it is unique enough to warrant a try if you are so inclined, especially if you can get it on sale. I paid less than $15 for the set of nine flowers and pot. The pot does not have an infuser, so without a screen, expect bits of tea in your cup. Emjoy!
